Move That Bus!

ALM Photo has been busy working on a website-improvement project and just like any other renovation this one took longer than expected. Refreshing our tired, outdated, relatively boring website took a lot of time, copious amounts of patience, a great deal of creativity, a few tears and surprisingly few dollars. We put countless hours into modernizing the website to bring it up-to-date and align it with the direction of our business and current photography.

We're relieved to have this project completed, but we still need to have our building inspected, and for that we need your help. So we invite you to relax and get comfortable in your favorite chair with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, log on to http://www.almphoto.com/ and peruse our pages and portfolio and give us your feedback.

Now that we have complete control over the content and images on the site we will be freshening it up frequently, so be sure to bookmark it and check back often. ALM Photo has made some other changes as well, such as utilizing Pictage for proofing and print purchase and incorporating a splash page with the website so you can easily visit either the blog or website or both. Fresh Fine Art Photography :: The Etsy Shop is Open {ALM Photo | Knoxville Professional Photographers}

ALM Photo has opened a shop on Etsy featuring an ever-changing collection of fine art photography. Etsy is an on-line artist's marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade. Our other artistic venture, Sassy Glass Studio, also has a shop on Etsy which does quite well considering the short amount of time it has been open. We opened the fine art photography shop as a retail outlet for our personal work. Please take a moment and click here to check it out. The shop is admittedly a little empty at the moment but more images will be added over the next few weeks. We wanted to get the word out as soon as it was open.

Atlanta Adventure :: Two Days of Photography and Learning {ALM Photo, Knoxville Professional Photographers}

Allan and I had a great time earlier this week when we traveled to Atlanta with three other Knoxville photographers for two photography-related seminars. Tuesday evening we attended Sandy "Sam" Puc's Tots 2 Teens workshop after spending the day getting kicked out of places for taking photographs and eating some great food. Needless to say, I don't think any of us took photographs of the food, but at least we didn't end up in jail. Sam's Tots 2 Teens workshop was great and we learned a lot about children from toddlers to teens from both a business and photography aspect. It was a long day and night especially because we stayed to help break down the set and get it loaded into the trailer for the next stop on the Tour which happened to be Nashville. Lots of information to implement and lots of props to find...like a strange chicken that sort of roars when you squeeze it. It was kind of scary, but affective. If you have the chance to attend the seminar in person I highly recommend it, but if you can't and you want to know more I suggest purchasing the DVD and other materials she has available on-line.

We got to sleep in a little on Wednesday before we headed to the LexJet Great Output Seminar "Professional Photographic and Fine Art Printing" so we could learn more about what we can do with the two large format printers we have. This seminar was enlightening! There are so many cool substrates to can print on that we left with a ton of great ideas. If you are interested in knowing more about what we learned, contact us so we can fill you in. Printing will never be the same with all this new information.

So , after two long days of learning, some tasty food, good laughs and great company we all headed home for a good nights rest. Good times!

Daydreaming About...Weddings {ALM Photo, Knoxville Professional Photographers}

The thermometer reads 35 degrees. Buds are barely visible on the trees outside. The sky, though blue, is harsh. Not exactly the imagery you typically associate with weddings, is it? But today that is exactly what is on my mind and perhaps yours as well.

Allan and I are busy re-imaging our business by building a new website, updating marketing materials, selecting fresh portfolio photographs and refocusing our attention on the types of photography we love including, you guessed it, weddings.
