If you have never had the occasion to visit Castleton Farms, it is a gorgeous wedding and event venue nestled between deep green forests and secluded behind a huge gate well off the beaten path. Around the property there are several vignettes for holding events and weddings from intimate to large, indoor and outdoor, but all beautifully appointed and perfectly manicured.
The War Paint Academy workshop was held in the barn, which is a stately building fitted with fabulous amenities, including a men's lounge for groom and his groomsmen to hang out in before his wedding. We photographed the models in and around the barn so we could be sure to capture images of each and every one without a lot of trekking around. The light coming in the end of the bar through the giant doors was, in a word, amazing. And the lightly dappled shade under the gazebo beyond the barn was fabulous too. Some photographers find it extremely challenging to work with changing and/or natural light, but we embrace it. We had reflectors on hand and would have loved to have brought some lights, but time was a constraint, and to be honest, many of the images look as though we did use lights.
Here are some of my favorites from the day and there is a link to all of the images at the bottom of this post in case you would like to see more. We'd love to work with you if you or your business needs this type of event/workshop coverage or if you just need some fresh and fabulous images for your website and social media platforms. Sometimes you just have to cut loose and have a little fun during a shoot. Christian photobombed his own shoot!
