I love color, so when Allan and I were asked to be among the photographers photographing the Color Me Rad 5K in Knoxville on Saturday, April 6th, 2013, we jumped at the chance. The day started off a bit chilly, and I never did get to drink my usual quota of coffee, but by 8:30AM I was in my 'studio' and Allan was headed out to his station on the course.
My 'studio' was a hot pink Color Me Rad emblazoned backdrop and a couple of lights. It didn't need to be a fancy set-up, but it worked perfectly to capture the super fun folks who waited in the super long line. I found out later that my line was the longest. Guess I am not the only one who loves pink!
We've shot triathlons and motorcycle racing, but nothing can prepare you for the awesomeness that is a Color Me Rad run. Seriously, there is so much colored cornstarch along the course {and even before the runners get started} that by the end of the day you can't stop smiling and you have had an absolute blast, and as a photographer, you didn't even get to run! If we get asked back again for the next race, I am totally wearing a tutu. Not sure if Allan will, but you never know.
We saw a bunch of friends on the course and in the 'studio' and met some very cool people. There were all ages running and walking this race and well, plain and simple we had a {color} blast! Here are some photos from the race and if you were a participant you will find all of the images here later today. Flo-Foto is the company that shoots all of the Color Me Rad races and they are very organized and super nice. If you missed this race and want to know when CMR will be coming back to town, visit the website here. They will also need volunteers to be a part of the Bomb Squad!

See, didn't I say there was a lot of pink! Allan was on the course by one of the color bomb stations and he captured some awesome images. The cloud of colorful dusk was probably visible from satellites circling the Earth. Or at least I would like to think it was!
Peace out!
