War Paint Academy Wedding Workshop | Hair, Makeup and Wedding Dresses!

Last month Allan and I headed out to Castleton Farms in Loudon, Tennessee to assist with Christian McNally's War Paint Academy Wedding Workshop. Christian wanted the makeup artists, hair stylists and models to have amazing photographs of the finished 'looks' for their portfolios and for critiques. We had a blast working with everyone! There were quite a few models and each was styled into two looks, most with wedding dresses, some with casual wear and all with stunning makeup and hair.

If you have never had the occasion to visit Castleton Farms, it is a gorgeous wedding and event venue nestled between deep green forests and secluded behind a huge gate well off the beaten path. Around the property there are several vignettes for holding events and weddings from intimate to large, indoor and outdoor, but all beautifully appointed and perfectly manicured.

The War Paint Academy workshop was held in the barn, which is a stately building fitted with fabulous amenities, including a men's lounge for groom and his groomsmen to hang out in before his wedding. We photographed the models in and around the barn so we could be sure to capture images of each and every one without a lot of trekking around. The light coming in the end of the bar through the giant doors was, in a word, amazing. And the lightly dappled shade under the gazebo beyond the barn was fabulous too. Some photographers find it extremely challenging to work with changing and/or natural light, but we embrace it. We had reflectors on hand and would have loved to have brought some lights, but time was a constraint, and to be honest, many of the images look as though we did use lights.

{Sneak Peek} Richardson Family

Early Sunday morning we ventured out to the Cove at Concord Park in West Knoxville to meet the Richardson's and their precious six month old baby girl. The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed the photo shoot including Elmo! Golden autumn color was attempting to make an appearance on this early October day, but the warm temperature and bright sun had us all thinking about summer. This sweet little one had the best smiles and was so full of energy we could barely contain her! Her mom could get her laughing and smiling in a split second when she started singing 'You Are My Sunshine'. So much fun!

Derby Day at Crescent Bend {Knoxville Event Photographers}

For the second year in a row, ALM Photo captured the fun and excitement of Derby Day at Crescent Bend, a gorgeous property on the river just west of Downtown Knoxville. A full day of exciting events, including an auction, river boat ride, horse show and race betting; take place around the running of the Kentucky Derby. This year the rain didn't allow for the usual red carpet entrance, but with a little improvisation we set up another photo opp spot indoors under the all-weather tent. This is a fun event for us to photograph because we are encouraged to enjoy ourselves and enjoy the delicious buffet, taste tempting desserts like horse-churned ice cream and  Derby pie, as well as traditional Derby Day drinks. {I still don't like a Mint Julep! - Lisa}
