Celebrating the future.

College graduation is a time to celebrate your success and your future. And it is also a time to get some great photographs to remember this fantastic time in your life! I wanted to share a few photos of Karlee, who recently graduated from the University of Tennessee, that I captured around Downtown Knoxville and on campus. 

Karlee loved the dreamy look of sun flare, so we got a little crazy grabbing some fun shots! Enjoy!

Damir Ludvig | Croatian DJ spins Knoxville around

Sometimes you spend more time working in your business than on your business and you get behind on the blogging...

The next few posts are going to catch you up on what Allan and I have been photographing since June. Just a little travelling back in time to revisit some really awesome events and people we had the opportunity to photograph. As you know, a lot of what we photograph is commercial work that for one reason or another we either can't share or we have to wait to share which means that sometimes I forget. Or we have these rather long periods of time when there isn't much in the way of photographs to share.

So coming up in the next few posts you'll see of the awesomeness that is the Knoxville 24 Hour Film Festival and the Knoxville Film and Music Festival, both of which took place in June, as well as some of the road bike competitions Allan has covered.

PS... we might even travel back a little further and share images from some of our commercial and real estate shoots. And maybe even some personal stuff, like how we've fallen in love with bicycle riding.

Without any further ado, here are some images we captured of Damir Ludvig a Croatian DJ who was representing the folks who created the film Papaya: Make Some Noise, a film about a beach club that will have you wanting to book a flight to Croatia. Find out more about Damir and the film in this article on Scruffingtonpost.com. Damir wanted some images of him in and around Knoxville and we took him to a couple of spots where we could capture the iconic Sunsphere in the background. He was a lot of fun and I had the pleasure of hanging out with him a couple of nights during the Knoxville Film and Music Festival. I also did a little dancing while he was DJing at Scruffy City Hall one night. That was a lot of fun!

Eskimo Escapades | Celebrating 20 years of Shut Up & Ski!

It was a cold, sunny day on January 18th at Volunteer Landing for the 20th Eskimo Escapades. As mentioned in our last blog post, we've been photographing this event for several years whether it's raining, snowing, or icy cold. Thankfully, this year it was just plain cold. The sun was shining and 40 waterskiers, wakeboarders, tubers and barefooters came out to take a lap on the Tennessee River and raise over $10,000 to benefit the Patricia Neal IRC, the Amputee Adventure Camp and Dream Connection.

Eskimo Escapades 2014 | January 18th at Volunteer Landing

One of our favorite action events to photograph each year is the Eskimo Escapades. Eskimo Escapades is held to benefit the Patricia Neal IRC, the Amputee Adventure Camp and Dream Connection. This marks the 20th event and it is held no matter what the weather is! There have been years when it has been so cold we can barely stand it to days when we've had to strip off almost all our layers. It's snowed, rained and been blindingly sunny. This year participants can expect it to be cold, but partly sunny. The frigid fun takes place at Volunteer Landing on Neyland Drive in Knoxville on Saturday, January 18th from 11am to 3pm.

Participants pay a registration fee of $30 to waterski, wakeboard or tube {you don't get wet!} in a generous loop on the Tennessee River. Local boat dealerships donate the use of boats from local boat manufacturers and they are driver by experience boat drivers who volunteer their time. And speaking of volunteers, there are a bunch of folks on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly and everyone gets their turn in a timely manner. Here is the 'Home Crew', the folks who work hard throughout the year to make this event a reality. Plus there is an announcer/DJ to keep everyone entertained. There is also food available, most notably from Bayou Bay Seafood House who sets up on site, and Calhoun's on the River, located right next to Volunteer Landing.

Riders don't have to worry about being cold because Ski/Scuba provides a complimentary wet suits and Aurora Pools, Spas and Billiards will have a hot tub ready for a toasty plunge post frosty lake around the lake. 

Come on down and see what all the fun is about! Bring your mittens, your dog and your camera! We'll be set up on the on of the Landing 'points' with the 600mm lens as well as shooting from one of the boats for an up-close capture of the action.

Derby Day at Crescent Bend {Knoxville Event Photographers}

For the second year in a row, ALM Photo captured the fun and excitement of Derby Day at Crescent Bend, a gorgeous property on the river just west of Downtown Knoxville. A full day of exciting events, including an auction, river boat ride, horse show and race betting; take place around the running of the Kentucky Derby. This year the rain didn't allow for the usual red carpet entrance, but with a little improvisation we set up another photo opp spot indoors under the all-weather tent. This is a fun event for us to photograph because we are encouraged to enjoy ourselves and enjoy the delicious buffet, taste tempting desserts like horse-churned ice cream and  Derby pie, as well as traditional Derby Day drinks. {I still don't like a Mint Julep! - Lisa}
